Luke Richards is a composer working in London and Los Angeles. He has contributed to the scores for Transformers: The Last Knight, Jason Bourne, the Oscar-nominated film American Hustle, the TV show The Good Wife and the best-selling video game series, Call of Duty. He is a dual citizen of the United Kingdom and the United States.
Luke’s most recent work has involved working with composer Steve Jablonsky writing additional music for Transfomers: The Last Knight, starring Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins and directed by Michael Bay. Previously in 2016 Luke provided additional arrangements and programming on John Powell and David Buckley’s score for Paul Greengrass’s directorial return to the Bourne franchise with Jason Bourne.
Luke’s involvement in film music began in 2009, when after completing his music degree in the UK, he relocated to Los Angeles. In 2010 he started working for Harry Gregson-Williams, assisting with orchestrations on the score for Ben Affleck’s The Town, and the Tony Scott film Unstoppable. The following year Luke was the lead orchestrator for David Buckley’s scores to the Jason Statham film Parker and the Nicholas Cage/Nicole Kidman thriller Trespass. He also lent his programming skills to Paul Haslinger’s score for Underworld Awakening.
In 2012 Luke moved to Hans Zimmer’s studio, Remote Control Productions, where he continued to assist David Buckley on film and television projects, including being the lead orchestrator and additional score programmer for Call of Duty: Ghosts. In 2014 he worked as a score programmer on Tim Burton’s Big Eyes as well as being a producer and orchestrator on the critically praised The Good Wife soundtrack album.
2013 saw Luke write the score to Sundae, which won Best of Canada at the Toronto International Short Film Festival. In 2014 his music for Remembering the Fallen won Best Original Score at the Los Angeles Movie Awards. More recently Luke scored the feature film The Gettysburg Address starring Matthew Broderick and Oscar nominated actor David Strathairn, followed in 2017 by eHero, starring Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings, Stranger Things).
Luke has had his music recorded at Abbey Road Studios, The Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros and The Newman Scoring Stage at 20th Century Fox.
